Little Drum Music Group meets at the Community Centre every Tuesday in term time. Sessions are 35 minutes long and there are 3 classes: 9:45, 10:30 and 11:15. Classes are run in the Tony Graham room.
Sessions are suitable for pre-school children, toddlers and babies to come and enjoy music and singing in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Parents or carers stay for the sessions to encourage the children and many sing along too, although it is not compulsory! Every term we explore a new theme and the children get used to a variety of traditional and modern songs and rhymes using a wide range of child friendly percussion instruments, bells, drums, castanets, claves and tambourines to name but a few.
When we are not using instruments, the children love to use finger puppets, props, scarves and ribbon sticks to turn themselves into beautiful butterflies, snappy crocodiles, ducks and aeroplanes, learning to relax and express themselves through music and movement.
Sessions are run by Julie and Carol who give the children lots of gentle support and encouragement but respect that not all children enjoy music in the same way... ..some will dance, some will sing and some will enjoy watching from their grown up's lap.
Hector is the highlight of the week for most children who can't wait to pull him out of the drum for a cuddle and a chat, even the most timid children become brave enough to welcome Hector.
Sessions cost £4 per child, per week and £3 for siblings, it is a termly payment once you decide that you would like to reserve a place, new children are welcome at any stage of the term. If you would like to book a trial session or would like more information, please contact Julie.
